INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

1.      Submit your article

All submissions to the Journal of Economics and Management (JEM) are taken online via a submission form. Any questions about the journal can be directed to: jem@mail.fcu.edu.tw

Submitted papers must neither have been published previously nor be under review by any other journals. Manuscripts should be written in English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these). Please make sure the manuscript has been 'spell checked' and 'grammar checked' by a native English-speaking proofreader before journal submission.

2.      Submission fee

There is no charge for submitting papers to JEM.

3.      Submission file format

Manuscripts should be submitted in Word or LaTeX. If you submit a LaTeX file, then the submission should include the original source (including all style files and figures) and a PDF version of the compiled output.

4.      Submission checklist

You can use this list to carry out a final check of your submission before sending it to the journal for review. You are requested to submit the title page and the blinded manuscript (manuscript without any author names and affiliations) in one file.

Title page should include:

The title.

The name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s).

The details for editorial correspondence, including phone numbers, fax number, e-mail address, and full postal address.

Abstract (not exceeding 300 words).

Keywords (not exceeding 6 keywords).

JEL classifications.

Blinded manuscript should include:

All figures (as well as relevant captions).

All tables (as well as titles, description, footnotes).

Ensure all figure and table citations in the text match the files provided.

Indicate clearly if color should be used for any figures in print.

Ensure all references mentioned in the Reference List are cited in the text, and vice versa.

5.      Text formatting

Please prepare your manuscript based on the following requirements. Download format example in word format or latex format.

5.1. Font, line spacing, and number of words.

The manuscript should be typed double-spaced in 12-point serif font such as Times New Roman in A4 paper size. Submissions below 10,000 words are favored and submissions (inclusive of footnotes, references, and tables) should not exceed 12,500 words.

5.2. Headings and sub-headings

Major headings should be preceded by Arabic numbers and use bold initial capital letters, e.g., 2. Models and Methods

Sub-headings should be designated as 2.1., 2.2., etc. and use italic initial capital letters.

e.g., 2.1. Linear Heteroscedastic Model

5.3. Equations

Equations should appear on separate lines and be numbered on the right-hand side as (1), (2), etc. All math notations should be in italic, except differential d, exponential e, cos, sin, lim, etc., which are roman as standard. Please submit math equations as editable text and not as images.

5.4. Tables

Please submit tables as editable text and not as images. Tables can be placed either next to the relevant text in the article or in separate page(s) at the end. The corresponding caption should be placed directly below the table. Please number tables consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text and place any table notes below the table body. Be sparing in the use of tables and ensure that the data presented in them do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article.

5.5. Figures

Please use figures with resolution at least 300 dpi. The corresponding caption should be placed directly below the figure.

5.6. Footnotes

Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and authors should not use more than three footnotes to better ensure the flow of the text. They must be numbered sequentially throughout the paper, with the numbering done by superior numerals outside the punctuation, i.e. after the full stop. Footnotes shall appear at the bottom of the relevant page.

5.7. Citations and references

Citations in the text appear as Smith (1994) or (Smith, 1994, 1995; Jones, 1995) and in single brackets only. Citations of a work with three or more authors should appear as Smith et al. (1994), except in those rare instances where it is necessary to distinguish between two sets of authors with the same dates, i.e. Smith, Jones, and Brown (1994) and Smith, Green, and White (1994). References appear in the following style:

Please note that we include only the volume number and not the issue number, and that we use the full page range, i.e. 133–147 and not 133–47.

5.8. Acknowledgement

Please collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article before the references. Therefore, do not include them on the title page as a footnote to the title or otherwise. Here, you may list those individuals who provided help during the research.

5.9. Appendices

If there is more than one appendix, they should be identified as A, B, etc. Formulae and equations in appendices should be given separate numbering: Eq. (A.1), Eq. (A.2), etc.; in a subsequent appendix, Eq. (B.1) and so on. This is done similarly for tables and figures: Table A.1; Fig. A.1, etc.

6.      Reviewing process

Journal of Economics and Management operates a double-blind review process. Both the reviewer and the author are anonymous in this model. However, please bear in mind that reviewers might be able to identify the author(s) through writing style, subject matter, or self-citation, and thus it is exceedingly difficult to guarantee total author anonymity.

All contributions will be initially assessed by the editor for suitability to journal readers. We will check for plagiarism before sending out to reviewers. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The Editor’s decision is final.

7.      After acceptance

If your manuscript is accepted by Journal of Economics and Management, the author identified as the formal corresponding author for the paper will receive an official acceptance email.

Corresponding authors will then receive an e-mail with attached proof. All instructions for proofing will be given in the e-mail sent to the corresponding authors.

Authors will also be asked to transfer copyright of the article to the Publisher (or grant the Publisher exclusive publication and dissemination rights). This will ensure the widest possible protection and dissemination of information under copyright laws. Authors will be asked to grant a non-exclusive license to Feng Chia University to:

Publish the paper in any format;

Digitally archive, reproduce , transmit publicly by Internet, make available for download and printing by authorized users and other means for sale, database, or providing service;

Sublicense to any other database provider to collect the paper in its database and provide the database service.

Change the format of the paper to meet the requirement of each database.
